Some things to keep in mind:

Nielsen metal frames come unassembled. They come with everything you need to put them together except for wire.

Assembly Instructions can be found here.

The backloading frames come assembled. You load from the back. These are not designed to be strung with wire, so keep that in mind, as many galleries will not use frames that are not hung with wire. The backloading frames are not recommended to be used over 20".

If you would like to get an overview of the pricing in the metal frames, please see our Metal Frame Pricing Table here.

When deciding on a frame, be sure to order by the outside dimensions of your finished product (this includes matboard, artwork, mounting board, glazing). We will add a 1/8" tolerance to make sure the fit is perfect.

Looking for an unobtrusive profile? Many artists favor the 11, 15, and 58 profiles. With less that 1/2" in exposed metal, the emphasis remains firmly focused on the art rather than the frame. These are extremely popular profiles for those artists specializing in both traditional and digital photography. These particular frames do have limitations when it comes to size, however. Not recommended for works over 24".

Looking for a profile to enhance your artwork? The 97 and 117 are contemporary and sophisticated flat faced frames that not only highlight your artwork, but compliments the overall feel of the finished product.

Looking for something for a larger work? We recommend the 97, 25 or 71 for large works (over 24 x 24). Other profiles may not be strong enough up for larger sized works.

Looking to frame a canvas or need a shadowbox? The 71 profile at 1" deep is a good choice. The 117 might work as well if you need a depth of 3/4" or less.

Please be sure to consult the "more" section of each metal frame in the Metal Builder for each frames respective dimensions. There are dimensions there for the width (measurement across the face), height (how far it stands out from the wall) and depth (the amount of room you have inside the frame.

Please note: The appearance of frame color can vary depending on your monitor. To get a better idea of colors please request a catalog. You can also call Customer Service if you have any specific questions.
