Tips on Using Self-Adhesive Mounting Board
We offer two options for adhsive mounting board:• Adhesive Mountboard: A white, thin board (about 1/16th” thick) with a solid core. The non-sticky side has a slightly waxy finish. This product is a bit stiffer than a piece of matboard and is manufactured by Crescent.
• Adhesive Foam Core: Just like regular foam core, this board is lightweight and 3/16” thick. Made by Bainbridge, it’s white just like standard foam.
With either product you simply peel off the protective paper, position your artwork on the board and press. If your image is smaller than the mountboard, take care to center it accurately in the middle of the board (see the trick below for one way to do this).
Please note that adhesive mountboard is a more permanent attachment than hinging with tape. You can reposition the artwork initially, but once you get it in just the right spot and press firmly, it can’t as easily be removed.
Tips on using Adhesive Mounting
Use a window mat as a positioning template. The outside dimension of the mat template should be exactly the same size as the size of your adhesive mountboard. The window should be cut to exactly the same size as the paper on which your artwork is printed.
Before you peel off the protective paper, lay the mat on top of the mountboard – position it so the edges are perfectly aligned.
Place the point of a push pin up against a corner of the mat window and poke a little hole through the protective paper into the adhesive mountboard. Do this in each corner of the mat window.

Then after the protective paper is removed, you’ll see 4 pinpricks to use as a guide. Line up each corner of the edges your artwork with the pin holes and lay it down.
Then, when you put a mat over the image both the edges of the artwork and pin holes will be covered. The mat border will adhere to the sticky border around the artwork.
