Mountboard
A mounting board is what goes behind your artwork. You can mount your image to the mounting board or the back of the mat, but either way you must have a backing board behind your art.

ATG Tape
Most people use ATG tape to attach the mat to the mounting board, once the image is mounted. This way it becomes one unit. You don't need much tape, just a strip on a couple of sides.
